Talent or Opportunity Marketplace systems are Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled software that have varying capabilities, but primarily match employee data to job requirements. Many of these systems recognize gaps between current skillsets and desired roles and make recommendations for future jobs and associated development and career paths. Based on a skills inventory and/or competency models, they take individual skills, capabilities, experiences, aspirations, and interests into consideration when recommending new roles, learning and development programs, and experiences (such as project assignments or networking opportunities).
Numerous vendors currently offer Talent Marketplace software that is stand-alone but may also include other capabilities such as performance management, succession management, etc. These systems promote the major benefits of a Marketplace while offering built-in integrations with other HR and talent management systems. In addition, the major HR Information or Management Systems vendors (Oracle, SAP/SuccessFactors, Workday) and several Talent Management Systems Providers (CornerstoneOnDemand, PeopleFluent, Avature) offer this capability, while others (Visier) offer interesting capabilities related to career management and pathing.
