How it works

Applying HR’s growing Lean expertise beyond its own function is a natural extension of its role in supporting organizational capability. HR should position itself as a collaborative partner across the enterprise to increase its effectiveness and avoid working in isolation. This approach allows HR to work with other departments, including Lean and non-Lean, to co-design processes, metrics, and learning that align people systems with operational priorities. The broader aim is for HR not only to support the business but also to play an active role in shaping performance, culture, and cross-functional workflows through strategic partnerships.

Successfully executing that objective involves three key steps that align HR’s recent focus and track record of successes with its existing expertise in learning and development, organizational change management, and talent KPIs.
