Purpose

To document helps clarify the role, mission, and makeup of a business-led oversight and management council for leadership development programming. It is designed to generate business leaders’ ownership over the activities and outcomes of learning programs designed to build leadership capability across the enterprise. The template is used to identify and communicate the membership and focus of this best practice oversight council.

How to use this tool

A meeting with top leadership is facilitated by HR to gain buy-in for the council, identify cross-functional members, and draft a mission statement. Those members are brought together to have a facilitated discussion of the regular meeting schedule, topics to be covered, and subcommittees to be charted for more detailed work in support of the committee’s mission and agenda.
