How it works

A core element of Lean focuses on transforming HR into a data-informed, continuously improving system. “Flow” is the movement of value across a process without interruption, confusion, or delay. “Waste” represents anything that slows it down. Applying Lean analysis enables HR to identify and eliminate friction points that degrade the employee experience, delay business outcomes, or create unnecessary rework.

This also focuses on systematically identifying inefficiencies and bottlenecks in HR workflows that impede value delivery. The goal is not just to incrementally improve existing practices but to fundamentally change how HR processes contribute or detract from the seamless flow of work across the organization. For example, a Lean onboarding process should be designed to help new hires become fully productive early in their employment.
