Purpose

This document helps clarify the role, mission, and makeup of a business-led oversight and management council for HR strategies and programming. It is designed to generate business leaders’ buy-in and ownership over the activities and outcomes of HR structure, policies, processes, and programs across the enterprise. The template is used to identify and communicate the membership and focus of a best practice oversight council.

How to use this tool

A meeting with top leadership is facilitated by HR to gain buy-in for the council, identify cross-functional members, and draft a mission statement. Those members further discuss the regular meeting schedule, the topics that need to be covered, and the subcommittees that need to be charted for more detailed on the committee’s mission and agenda.
