Purpose

This tool is used in a sequence of analyses that convert key business objectives, external, and internal environmental scans into HR challenges that can subsequently be converted into HR goals and objectives. It provides sufficient detail to enable a clear and actionable direction for the organization regarding how the work will be accomplished. 

How to use this tool

A team of experienced HR professionals take the output of a Goals & Trends Conversion analysis for the identified HR-related challenges and enters each onto a separate line of this tool. The team then discusses and brainstorms meaningful objectives that represent an HR response to each particular challenge. From each of those objectives, SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) are developed that capture what HR will do to impact the challenge.
